You have to agree a date and time firstly, with your local authority and then with the venue, as to when your Civil Partnership is to take place.
Both yourself and your partner have to give at least 7 days notice in the specific area that you live stating the date and time of your Civil Partnership. Bring with you proof of name / age / residency. If you have been married before, bring proof of this marriage no longer existing.
Your intention to have a Civil Partnership will be made available for public inspection in the registry office for approximately 15 days.
Civil Partnerships are new legal relationships in the UK, same-sex couples are recognised much in the same way as male / female couples. Along with this recognition comes responsibility.
You will need proof that you are no longer married this would be in the form of a 'Decree Absolute', rather than 'proof that the marriage is dissolved'
